Tree House, Ivanhoe, Australia, 2017

DESIGN / BRIEF

A new two-storey addition was proposed for an existing unit at the rear of a property on Heidelberg Road.

The new extension projects out and steps down in response to the sloped nature of the site. A series of green roof terraces create pleasant break-out areas with city skyline views, while also help to increase thermal energy efficiency levels. A large cantilevered form projects out over the main entry area below, where living areas are located to be closer to the established garden.

A charred timber cladding tile system has been developed to help reduce construction costs, increase sustainable design principles and better integrate the proposed additions with the surrounding leafy context.

A Town Planning application was prepared and submitted, but the project was put on hold until further notice.
