An existing garage at the rear of a property in North Carlton has been converted to accommodate a first floor studio space, with views onto an extensive garden that lead off the existing house.

Conceived by Claire Scorpo Architects, SG2 design were later engaged to finalise interiors and undertake construction management.

Louvred openings were selected to provide adequate cross-flow ventilation to all areas. The finishes palette consists of timeless, robust materials such as recycled brickwork, elzinc cladding and Italian porcelain ceramic tiles and bathroom fittings. Porter’s Paint finishes provide a strong textural finish in a subtle, calming colour that complements black hardware and warm earthy tones of clear-stained timber throughout.
