The Studio ii, Clifton Hill, Australia, 2010

DESIGN / BRIEF

This project was undertaken with Archiforma and involved the creation of a studio space over a garage in the inner city.

The new additions are contemporary yet sympathetic to the existing heritage context. Simple, well proportioned geometric forms sit in harmony within the surrounding streetscape. First floor setbacks provide vertical relief and the opportunity for a terrace to create a connection for the occupants with the street.

Reclaimed red bricks and corten steel were the dominant materials used for their natural earthy tones, robustness and timeless qualities.
