Sebastiano was part of the project team at Conix Architects in Brussels, for the new fit-out refurbishment of an existing seven-storey office building located in the European Quarter.

The existing curtain wall facades and interiors were completely stripped-out and replaced by energy efficient facade glazing, with extended “brise soleil” shading devices that express each floor level and provide additional shelter to the interior spaces.

A random diagonal pattern of steel beams provide a striking and identifiable feature at ground level, to differentiate the entry podium level from the more conventional offices areas. A similar diagonal pattern was used to create a ceiling grid over a common reunion space within the heart of the building, to provide shading from the open courtyard void above.

Energy efficient initiatives include automated lighting, additional solar shading, insulation and high-performance facade glazing throughout.
