Copper House, Elsternwick, Australia, 2021
DESIGN / BRIEF
A new extension with associated outdoor living areas were proposed on an existing heritage house in Glen Eira.
Simple geometric forms were introduced, to create a contemporary addition that pays hommage to circular motifs, semi-circular staircases and arched porticos that exist on the main house. Living areas extend out onto a large circular deck that offsets a new BBQ area.
A simple materials palette with copper cladding is proposed for it’s organic qualities and durability, to work in harmony with existing tones and materials as well.
