NORTH CARLTON APARTMENT. Melbourne, Australia, 2003.
slide show gallery

This fit-out of a new apartment on the first floor of an existing two-storey terrace house, included the demolition of internal walls, the relocation of the existing bathroom and the addition of a new kitchen.

A long strip of skylight slices through the kitchen and beyond the entry corridor wall, to create a point of interest and to generate ample natural light., a problem often faced in tarrace houses. All services where positioned on the north side to maximise light and fresh air from windows located on the south.

A neutral colour scheme for walls and ceilings throughout amplify the space, which is occasionally punctuated with splashes of colour for joinery items. A custom built timber sliding door with fibreglass panel inserts complements the original restored floor boards and adds warmth to the space, while also allowing for natural light to filter through from the front room.
