NORTH FITZROY TERRACE. Melbourne, Australia, 2015-2016.

This project involved proposed alterations and additions to an existing 19th century townhouse located in the inner city.

The house lies within a strong heritage context, but is in a state of dis-repair. A new two-storey addition is proposed to replace the existing rear section of the house. The new works also incorporate a raised green roof, to act as new terrace and extended garden.

Proposed zinc cladding contrasts the existing brickwork, yet is also prevalent in the surrounding neighbourhood context. Some primary colours are introduced to accentuate privacy screens, whose composition is reminiscent of Piet Mondrian's artworks.
